AKRON, Ohio—FedEx Custom Critical CharterAir is giving manufacturers, suppliers and freight forwarders more options to meet their critical deadlines with the launch of Point-to-Point SameDay heavyweight air-freight service. 

SameDay enables customers to call during late third shift and have their shipments arrive during second shift that day. Exact pickup times and delivery times are quoted to the minute when the customer places an order for a shipment.

The service, which is now available, utilizes FedEx Custom Critical vehicles and FedEx Express flights to deliver customers’ critical freight. It gives companies working on just-in-time schedules a new option when they need a shipment sent over a long distance, but missed their regular air-freight deadlines.

“SameDay will be a great tool for any customer who doesn’t have freight available until after the typical air-freight cutoff,” said Kevin McClellan, director of CharterAir. “This is the only same-day heavyweight air-freight service available with an integrator’s level of service reliability.”

The service offers:

· Exclusive-use FedEx Custom Critical vehicles for pickups/deliveries

· Immediate price quoted to the penny
· Service to the 48 contiguous U.S. states
