AKRON, Ohio – FedEx Custom Critical, North America’s largest time-specific, critical-shipment carrier, has named Patricia McClellan the recipient of its 2001 college scholarship. She is the daughter of Kevin and Kitty McClellan of Uniontown. Kevin is the director of FedEx Custom Critical’s CharterAir division.
FedEx Custom Critical sponsors a corporate scholarship each year, with the GAR Foundation providing an additional matching scholarship. Combined, the annual scholarship amount is $2,000 – renewable for up to four years.
McClellan, graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in June, is a National Honor Society member with a 4.4 GPA. She has been accepted into Ashland University’s honors program at the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs. McClellan plans to major in political science and has aspirations of a career in foreign service.
In addition to her academic achievements, McClellan has been involved in many extracurricular activities. She participated in the People to People student ambassador program, Hugh O’Brien leadership seminar and National Catholic Youth Congress. She currently serves as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.
FedEx Custom Critical offers the scholarship program for children of part- and full-time employees with more than two years of continuous service. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) selects the recipients and administers the scholarship program.
