FedEx Custom Critical Launches New Time-Definite
Service
Expedited Product Portfolio Enhanced with Addition of Surface Expedite
Network
AKRON, Ohio, March 29, 2006 – FedEx Custom Critical, Inc., a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), introduces a new, time-definite service that provides users with additional delivery options and cost savings for their expedited freight shipments. The new service, FedEx Custom Critical Surface Expedite NetworkSM, utilizes the expedited transportation know-how of FedEx Custom Critical and the operations of FedEx Freight to accelerate shipments through the FedEx Freight network.
Surface Expedite Network enables customers to choose the hour by which the freight will be delivered (such as by 11 a.m.) or a one-hour delivery window (for example, between 10 and 11 a.m.). The freight receives priority loading and treatment throughout the FedEx Freight system.
FedEx Custom Critical brings the same customer service experience to Surface Expedite Network that it has provided on its other surface and air services for more than 25 years, including proactive customer notification of pickup and delivery. The company also has the capability to recover a shipment that is already in transit and shift the freight to another expedited FedEx solution to meet a changing delivery time.
“This new solution will help our customers expedite their freight and reduce their transportation costs,” said Virginia Albanese, vice president of service for FedEx Custom Critical. “Accelerating shipments through scheduled networks is typically more cost-effective than utilizing an entire truck or aircraft. The combination of the on-time performance of FedEx Freight and the customer service expertise of FedEx Custom Critical is a unique opportunity to utilize the strengths of both companies to benefit our customers.”
In addition to this new service offering, FedEx Custom Critical has renamed its core services to better describe its service options. The new names are as follows:

- FedEx Custom Critical Surface Expedite Exclusive UseSM
Formerly Surface Expedite® (exclusive-use vehicles) - FedEx Custom Critical Air Expedite Exclusive UseSM
Formerly CharterAir® (arrangement of exclusive-use, charter aircraft)
Network services

Formerly Point-to-Point (time-specific, premium airfreight) - FedEx Custom Critical Surface Expedite NetworkSM
